Lisbon’s culinary specialties

In the heart of the city or at our Campanile hotel in Lisbon, discover the culinary specialties of Portugal. The Lisbon region is famous for its delicious fish dishes, like grilled sardines and the many cod-based recipes. On the sweet side, try the "Pasteis de Belem," excellent cream and cinnamon tartlets. Also indulge (in moderation) in "ginga," a local drink served in "ginjinhas." This liquor is made with cherries and is consumed everywhere in town! Interesting facts about Lisbon

Are you a fan of mythology? This story will make you want to drop your bags at the Campanile hotel in Lisbon! According to legend, Ulysses, after the Trojan War, landed on the shores of what is now Portugal, known as the “Kingdom of Serpents.” Ulysses apparently tricked the local queen – half woman, half serpent – in order to found his city, which later became Lisbon. The queen-serpent, upon finding out she had been manipulated by Ulysses’s ruse, attacked the city, creating the city’s landscape hills with her twisted reptile body. Lisbon, the “city of seven hills,” was thus born.
