An unusual fact

“The blue fingers” is what the inhabitants of Zwolle have been nicknamed since the Middle Ages. At that time, Zwolle’s only wealth was a carillon. Its rival, the rich city of Kampen, eager to acquire additional wealth, had to pay Zwolle an astronomical sum to become owner of the famous carillon. The inhabitants of Zwolle spent many days counting the copper coins and their fingers became blue. This nickname is still attributed today. To go to Zwolle is also to discover all the historical and folkloric aspect of the Netherlands.
