First visit the area's many churches, stopping at the Citadel Chapel to see its votive statue of the Virgin Mary. To carry on your history trail, think about exploring the former Bishop’s palace built on Gallo-Roman and medieval ruins. For a witness to the city’s past, also visit the Musée du Souvenir du Combattant. For a sports and nature break, you can take advantage of the nearby golf course, then relax with a walk around the harbor, which is visited by over 6,000 boats each year.

Beef bourguignon

Goat’s cheeses

The Burgundy region is world-famous for its wines, but it also boasts goat’s cheeses which are each more delicious than the next, including faisselles, croûtes fleuries (Marcigny, Racotin), croûtes naturelles (Clacbitou or claquebitou, Charolais, Baratte et chèvre etc). You can enjoy them out and about as you visit the city or before dessert in the restaurants of Chalon-sur-Saône, including in your hotel restaurant.

Côte chalonnaise wines

The vineyards of the côte chalonnaise, which span nearly 4,000 hectares, consists of several vineyards with 6 regional appellations and no less than 5 communal appellations.
