Listed as a City of Art and History, Dinan will unveil its thousand and one facets during a well organized two-day-old stay. First, you can head to its castle, consisting of a keep, called Duchess Anne’s keep, near the St. Louis gate, and admire its ramparts. The castle is also home to permanent museum collections dedicated to the history of Dinan. At the end of the afternoon, take a walk around the port and enjoy some fresh air. Dedicate time to visiting some of the religious monuments, such as the church of Saint-Malo, the Basilique Saint-Sauveur or the Couvent des Cordeliers. Make the most of these visits and admire the church organs. For a nature and cultural break, take a detour by the museum and sculpture garden, a haven of peace and art.
During your week in Dinan, start by visiting the Maison d’Artiste de la Grande Vigne or the Governor’s House for a cultural break. Then take a stroll around town to stop before stopping in front of Dinan Station, which is listed as a historical monument, and in front of the Clock Tower, a 15th-century belfry 45 meters tall. Close to Dinan, explore some manor houses, such as the Manoir de la Grand’Cour, fountains, typical villages and mills, such as the moulin du Prat. You can also visit the castles in the area: the Château de Beaussais, de Hac, de la Hunaudays or the Fort la Latte.
For a reinvigorating tour of the countryside, head with the family to the English gardens for a great panorama of the Rance Valley. Enjoy the traditional crêpe dentelle de Dinan, called a "gavotte", during your stay: it's a rolled-up, thin, crispy pancake that can be found in various flavors. It’s said they were invented because of a mistake: a classic pancake that was forgotten on the hot plate (called a bilig in Brittany). And why not take the time to see the Dinan locals dancing a folk dance, also called a gavotte? Who knows, you could even learn a few steps!Chouchen
It would be a pity to stay in Dinan without tasting the very local chouchen, an alcoholic drink relatively close to mead (a fermented drink made with water and honey and very well known in the region), as an aperitif, for example. This alcohol goes particularly well mixed with melon, but it can also be drunk in winter. For the most curious, there is another drink close to the chouchen called chufere, which is made with honey and cider.Clams

The Fête des Remparts
During a weekend (the third weekend in July very precisely) and once every two years, Dinan hosts the Fête des Remparts, which celebrates the city's medieval past. A very festive event in which the whole population participates: storefronts are decorated and everyone put on their best medieval costumes. There is also the Enfant dans la ville event, during which the town of Dinan organises a giant fair with many free activities.Music festivals
Each summer, artists from the jazz scene take their places in the place Saint-Sauveur to show off their music and new pieces during the Jazz en Place festival. Access to concerts is free, so take advantage! They take place in the place Saint-Sauveur or in the town’s art galleries and stores.
